E-Bikes and scooters are an effective, convenient and sustainable mode of transport which many people are using to commute to workplaces or get around towns and cities. However, as these vehicles are powered by Lithium-ion batteries they present a number of inherent risks should the battery become damaged. In 2024, 518 fires involving Lithium-ion batteries were caused by e-bikes and e-scooters. Therefore it is important to provide protection for businesses against these sorts of incidents in order to allow Electric Powered Personal Vehicles (EEPVs) to still be used for their intended purpose.
